Why try to explain miracles to your kids when you can just have them plant a garden.  ~Robert Brault

Do you like to work in your yard/garden and get soil under your fingernails, or on your clothes or in your hair?   I remember when our granddaughter was 4 years old and she came to visit from Atlanta. The first day of her visit, she got a speck of soil on her new white shoes and had an emotional melt down!  By weeks end, she was watering plants (more water on her than the flowers!), making mud pies, and begging to go outdoors.  What a great week that was for she and her grandparents!

It is always good to get children involved in outdoor gardening activities.  Giving back to Mother Nature is rewarding.   Children are our future, please get them drawn in to the concept of outdoors, nature and giving back.

Daylilies ... yes, daylilies.  Daylilies here at Oakville Farm are blooming about two weeks earlier than "normal".  Mild winter, early spring, adequate rain, all the components for good growth.  Want to share several bloomers ...

Streaker

Streaker is an early midseason bloomer.  A cream pink with red eyezone and green throat.  It is a rebloomer, meaning that it goes thru a bloom cycle, rests, reblooms and repeats process until frost.  Bloom width is about 4 1/2 inches and has height of about two feet.

Siloam June Bug

Siloam June Bug presents a small bloom, less than three inches.  Stands about two feet tall.  It is an early mid season bloomer.  It is gold with a dark eyezone and green throat.  Foliage is small and thick, complimenting the bloom.  Bloom is close to the foliage.  Makes a good daylily for the front of a flower bed or for edging/border.

All for this time.  Hope you have a good day and until next time, Happy Gardening.
