Hello Everyone,
Hope all is well with you. We are hoping for rain. Temps have been HIGH and winds have been blowing for three days now. When our neighbor, 5 miles west of here called this afternoon, she said they were having a downpour, for a short while at least. We were/have not seen any.
A customer asked about high "bud count". The daylily, named WALLY, which is currently blooming, has a high bud count. The American Hemerocallis Society has a terminology page on their website and part of their definition of bud count says: "Since each daylily flower is only open one day, the number of buds each scape carries is indicative of how many flowers the plant will bear on a single scape." I counted about 20 buds on this scape. WOW, that will be a long blooming scape!
